Azari Capital

Private-market underwriting and stewardship.

01

What this means at Azari Capital

Azari Capital exists because a property development, an energy project, a financial-services platform and an external private-market investment should not be evaluated through the same operating lens. Capital provides the dedicated investment process for that work.

It sits within Azari Holdings but has its own responsibility for investment evaluation, structuring, portfolio review and stewardship.

02

What we examine

The review focuses on five defined private-market strategies rather than an undefined investment mandate; independent underwriting even when a sector is familiar to another Azari business; and portfolio thinking that recognises group capital is finite before capital is committed.

03

Downside and failure modes

The firm has to guard against confirmation bias created by familiarity with Azari sectors such as property, energy and financial services.

04

Governance and ownership

Investment approvals, conflicts, information rights and ownership responsibilities should be explicit enough that the process remains credible when a transaction is attractive or time-sensitive.

05

Where it connects to the Azari group

Operating knowledge from elsewhere in the Azari group can sharpen diligence, but it does not replace independent underwriting. Any relationship with another Azari company is assessed on its own economics, risks, governance and conflicts.

06

What a strong outcome looks like

Azari Capital should become more capable through better judgement, information and stewardship rather than by presenting unverified transaction volume or assets-under-management figures.

Decision lens

Questions that should survive the presentation.

Examples of the questions used to keep the work anchored in evidence, ownership and downside.

  1. 01

Can the economics be explained without relying on promotional language?

  2. 02

Is the mandate clear enough to know what should be declined as well as what can be pursued?

  3. 03

Does the organisation have the information needed to learn from its own decisions?

  4. 04

Are ownership responsibilities separated clearly from operating responsibilities?

  5. 05

Would growth improve the investment platform or simply increase complexity?
